Hey
Is there a plan for a new certificates that will obsolete current versions
of MCAD/MCSD and so on ?
Jarod

Hi Jarod,

There will be a new set of Exams for the next version of .Net 2.0 and MS SQL Server 2005. The exams will be available sometime after the release of .Net 2.0/SQL 2005, which is released Nov. 7th this year. I expect it will be a few months before the exams are released.

Hi Morten, does this mean that the existing MCAD or MCSD will revert to MCAD
1.1 or is the only change going to be simply that the 2.0 exams can be taken
and used towards MCAD and MCSD certification? (I'm thinking of the same way
WinXp or Win2000 counted as part of the MCSE exam).

Otherwise I'll be very p*ssed at having to recertify because of the new
framework -which at it's core remains the same.

Thanks in advance,

Mark.

Hi Mark,

I don't know the details of what will come, but my understanding is that it will be something of a MCAD.NET/MCSD.NET v2 with upgrade exam(s) from regular MCAD.NET (1.1)/MCSD.NET (1.1). I may be very wrong in this.

The only thing I know for sure is that there will be new exams, but I don't know if they will just replace existing exams or if there will be a new title (and upgrade path) as well.

Thanks, I guess we shall wait and see ... :)

imo I don't think there would be too much value or sense in creating a new
cert, I don't think enough has changed. Heck even if there was only one
upgrade exam, doing such a thing would probably only help in muddying the
waters of the two developer certs with management. Also if the framework
lives for (hopefully) a long time (10 years +) then we could see an awful
lot of cert versions.

how about...
MCSD 1 +2 +3 +4 .net LOL.

Cheers for now

Mark.
