I recently did some formating and reintalling of OS's. My current config is
Drive #1-Partition 1 Windows XP = Drive C:
-Partition 2 Windows ME = Drive E:
Drive #2-Partition 1 No OS = D:
My Boot.ini read as follows
[boot loader]
timeout=10
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP " /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows ME" /fastdetect
Now the problem is when i try to run ME from the boot selection screen i get a missing file error <windows root>\system\hal.dll
I copy'd the file into the dir and then got <windows root>\system\ntoskrnl.exe.
So i get the impression that the MBR thinks XP is on that partition as well.
I already tried "bootfix" and "bootcfg" with no luck unless i did something wrong.
So if your gonna suggest something with them please be specific.
