Hello,

Win2K. I have a Dell Inspiron 3500 with swappable 3.5 and CDRom drives. The
problem is that I cant swap them. The only way it works is to power down the
system, swap, and reboot. According to Dell's website, it originally came
with a program called Softex Bay Manager. It only mentions that the program
works on Win95, 98, ME, and NT4. I am assuming the lack of reference to
Win2000/XP means that in those versions of Windows, you do not need the
software. Is this the case? Any ideas on something I can check?

I have provided the link to the article on Dells site below. Thanks,

Chris

Try contacting DELL tech support

The release date indicated that these are 1999 files and probably
weren't tested against Win2K.

Dave,

Thanks for the link. Do you think if I upgrade to XP, I wouldn't need the
software, or does this have nothing to do with what version of windows you
are running. Thanks,

Chris

Just guessing here but no matter the OS version you'll probably need the hot
swap manager.
