What is the maximum number of drives supported by XP Home (w/ SP2)? With two
partitioned hard drives and various card readers... I am up to drive letter
"V:". Will XP recognize more?

26 drive LETTERS are supported, drives themselves is merely a matter of
being able to connect them.

You can have up to 26 block devices in Windows before you can't have any
more due to the alphabet running out at Z: and poor design choices made in
1980 which were never later fixed.

You can get to devices by using UNC (Universal Naming Convention) instead of
letters. That is:

\\device-name\share-name

Using a drive letter is but a shortcut for assignin a "letter" to a UNC. In
other words, UNC is a super-set of drive letters.
