In Access 2000 and later, the maximum database size is increased to 2GB.
However, Access 2000 and later use Unicode, which uses two bytes rather than
one to store a text character. This doesn't necessarily mean that there will
be no increase in capacity, as Unicode applies only to text fields, and
there is a Unicode compression feature.
I've never actually seen an MDB that was approaching 1GB in size. I'm
curious - how long does it take to compact it?
