Hello,

I have a folder on a Windows XP Professional machine that
is shared and I am mapping a drive on other users
computers to access that folder. I set the permissions for
the user limit to Maximum Allowed and I start setting the
drive mappings and I am not able to go past ten users, and
I need to set this drive mapping on 50 users workstations.
Is there any way to increase the ammount of users that can
connect to this share at once. One thing I did try is I
tried raising the limit in the Computer Management console
to 100 and it still will not let me make more than 10
connections. Any suggestions.....

Hi Erik,

Windows XP Professional has a hard limit of 10 concurrent connections to a
machine at any given time. In order to have more than 10, you will have to
use a Server product.

Hope this helps!

Greetings --

As it has always been, the limit of 10 concurrent inbound
connections is the same for all of Microsoft's workstation operating
systems, except WinXp Home, which is limited to 5.

If you need more than 10 concurrent connections, you'll need to
install a server OS.

Use a Linux SAMBA server instead. No connection limit.

Windows XP Professional can support up to ten (10) simultaneous
connections. If your require more, then you need to consider using
the very best server O/S available, Windows Server 2003.
