Maximizing windows as a default

When I open my Internet Explorer Browser (version
6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633IC) on my XP system, THE
WINDOW IS ALWAYS IN THE REDUCED-SIZE MODE. It never comes
up maximized. It isn't closed; it's just a little bit
smaller than the maximized screen. Every time I shut down
Explorer, I make sure that the page is in maximized mode.
I have looked all through the options menu under "Tools"
in the IE toolbar, and I can't find any place to address
this issue. I am certain that there used to be a place to
set this in previous versions of IE. I have closed the
window using File, Close, instead of the "x" and it didn't
work. I have configured my IE shortcut to bring up my IE
pages in maximized mode, and that did work, but it only
works when I click on that shortcut. Any other approach
to IE, such as links in e-mails or from other URLs,
continue to bring up smaller screens. I have tried
manually enlarging the screen before closing it, because
the MS help page said that would work with OLEXP, but it
doesn't work with IE. I have rebooted after doing that -
no help. I have stood on a carrot and recited Jabberwocky
while wearing a full suit of armor, and guess what? That
didn't work either. There must be a way --- maybe in
Command mode? - to set my default IE screen to maximize.
Can anyone out there help????

Click on a link to open a second browser window. Drag the corners of the new
window to full screen. Close the first browser first, second browser second.
Or
Modify the registry key HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Main\FullScreen REG_SZ to
"yes".
