I've got several systems, all with a proper certificate of authority and all
of their original XP installation discs, but I don't know which disc goes
with which system. Now I'd like to give away one of these systems and
include the correct install CD. How do I figure out which one to include?

if all the systems are one version, ie all XP Pro and all are full retail
CDs then it doesn't matter.

The systems came with an OEM install of ME. I purchaced the XP upgrade so
I'm trying to figure out which upgrade disc to include. Basically I'm trying
to find the one disc in a pile of similar discs that matches the certificate
of authority posted on the system. Is there a way to test the disc to see if
the product key matches without reinstalling?

No. The CD doesn't carry any details of the Product Key AFAIK. As I said -
if ALL the versions are the same, it doesn't matter.

Huh ? OEM copy upgraded with a Retail XP would not have a
COA Label included - unless you bought XP OEM and did a
fresh install on the ME PC.

Product Keys are not embedded into the software on the disk.
The key is deciphered in a way that validates it matches the type
of disk you have. In other words the Key expects a particular
family type disk.

Are all your XP copies the same type ? (Retail or OEM, Full or
Upgrade)

To decode the key used on an up & running XP system download
and run the Belarc Advisor program:
