I'm having problems with software on my home PC. I'm assuming it's not the
actual software but some other malfunction elsewhere.

For example;

With Adobe Photoshop on saving for web the following error is shown;
"Could not complete this operation because an assertion has failed"

On clicking on the Command menu in dreamweaver the following error is
displayed
"While executing DWMenu. the following JavaScript error occurred at line 14
of the C:Program Files\dreamweaver. TypeError
DWEMLaunch.mayLaunchExtensionManager is not a function"

All these problems have accrued since the use of a program a friend
suggested would increase the speed of my PC as it deletes all the Master
File Table (MFT) records from your PC. Not knowing what they where I gave it
a shot, the program is called BCWipe.

Now I know what these MFT's are I'm feel a complete fool to have run the
program
Has anyone got any suggestions of how to recover from this error?

My PC is virtually brand new, please see the linked image about it's Devices
if this helps.

Although you may may tried this, most people forget about this useful tool. Try using the system recovery in the accessories/system tools folder and turn back your system to before using the BCWipe program

Follow Vigilanti's advice concerning system restore. It's the easiest
way to go back to a time when it worked.

If this fails and you keep on having these errors, you can try doing a
repair install, if you have a retail XP CD.
Detailed instructions here:

Thanks for your advice thus far, and here's the but...
BCwipe turns off and deletes all restore points. There is no history of a
restore point.

If it wiped the MFT and restore points, then a repair install could be
the solution. Back up your data before trying it, though, you don't
know what else BCWipe has done.
