Windows XP Profesional (32Bit) stopped working for me yesterday
aftenoon post a reboot - No network access. Deleteting NIC card
didn;t help nor did Using Sustem Restore to go back ad few days so I
built a new install in a spare partition only o find the same problem
after installing the 88e8053 drivers off the ASUS install CD.

Solution was to Marvell web siteonm another desktop and obtain August
Drivers. Anyone heard of this? Installation has been installed and
stable for months prior to this unneeded diversion.

Hi John,

Thanks for posting!
I understand that No network access after installing the 88e8053 drivers.
If I have misunderstood your concerns, please feel free to let me know.
However, from your post, I am sorry that I am unclear either the status of
the issue or your main concerns for now. From the symptom, it appears to
that the 88e8053 driver is incompatible to system and you have found the
solutions to the issue. In this case, to update to the latest version of
the driver can be an appropriate solution. In addition, you may contact the
vendor the network card to request latest version driver.

If I am off base, please feel free to post back with the information in
detail for further research. Thanks for your understanding.

Thanks & Regards,

Jason Tan

The lack of response from others indicates this is not a common
problem and I need no futher action.

The issue was:
1. Driver did work
2. Driver stopped working on a previously working system
3. Driver then found to not work on a brand new installation
4. Both installations ok after updating the driver

It is almost as if the problem was date oriented. Ie a certificate
expired or something.

Hi John,

Thanks for your update! I do apreciate your effort in explaning the issue
carefully. I also agree with you that the resolution is to update the
driver to the latest version. Anyway, thank you for your kindness to let us
know the issue which could be helpful to others here.

Thanks & Regards,

Jason Tan
