Mapping a Network Drive and Adding a Network Place

But when you add a network place, is that not also making it think a network
resouce is local?

"Local" means on that particular computer. A mapped drive makes the computer
think the mapped drive is a *local* and not network resource. It has been
so long since you started this thread that I don't remember your original
question.
