Mapped Network Drives Are Not Connected After You Restart

It says it is by design - how do I get around this?
I have 4 - XP PCs, peer-to-peer with one sharing a folder.
One PC connects fine after rebooting the other two don't.
They have a red X on the mapped drive. I can double click
on the mapped drive and it will open fine, but I have to
do this every time before I launch an application so it
can find the data.
