We have a P4 PC acting as an XP Server hosting peer to
peer network which users logon to for data access etc.
There is a network printer and several other printers
connected to individual PC's on the network.

Recently we have experienced issues when connecting to
the server and receive this message: "The network cannot
accept your connection" (or very similar to this).

Perhaps it is because we are close to the Maximum number
of Computer Accounts allowed in XP Pro, I read Microsoft
Article 314462, but it does not appear to be the solution.

Your help would be appreciated.

XP has a limit of 10 concurrent logins to a shared network resource,
and that count includes the computer where the resource is located
(meaning the designated server).

So this is probably the situation you are up against.

The only real solutions are:

1. to reduce the number of computers that are logged in at any given
time (log off or shut down unused computers, for example)

or

2. upgrade to a genuine file server version of Windows such as Windows
Server 2003 Small Business Edition which you can license and configure
to allow more than 10 logins.

Good luck
