Many problems - copy/paste, installer, update, IE...

I've recently had Win2k installed over Win98 - as 98 was having some serious problems.

Now with 2k there are a lot of things not working right.

#1 The installer isn't working - I continually get "installer service not accessible" which means I can't get my virus scan software installed.

#2 I can't get the windows update site to load - it just goes to a blank white browser window. I did initially get SP4 installed, but because I had more problems with it than with out it I uninstalled it - now I can't get it back.

#3 - I can't copy/paste and the clipboard always appears to be empty.

#4 The CPU usage regularly spikes to 100%.

There are other problems - these are the ones that stick out.

I don't know where to start.
