Manually archive without (!) deleting archived eMails in Outlook 200x ?

When I archive eMails by the menu File->Archive I am asked for the target *.pst file
and can move (!) certain parts of my Outlook eMails to the new archive.
Unfortunately this method does NOT offer a method to only copy (!) the emails.
On contrast when I look at the "Auto-Archiving" feature in

Tools->Options->Other->AutoArchive

I have the option to either delete old items or not.

Is there really no way to copy-only the emails in a manual Archive
operation like in "Autoarchive"?

You might be able to use rules in Outlook 2000, but in Outlook XP or Outlook 2003, you can use Data File Management. Using Data File Managment, you can allow the old items to be moved in the archiving process and never miss a beat.

That way, whether you're looking for Sent Items or at Journal Entries, you can browse your current folders (in the outlook.pst file) or in your archived folder (in the archive.pst file). Here is an example with Journal Entries:

You can add the Archive Folders to your folder pane using the File - Data File Management menu option.
