I tried to set up to have each folder archive into its own archive folder
and I think maybe I got that part right. I couldn't find a way to start the
archiving function but today autoarchive popped up and I let it do its
thing. The individual archive folders grew but the original folders did not
shrink and appear to still have old stuff in them.
Apparantly there are some boxes that I don't have checked. Help will be
appreciated.
After I get the right boxes checked, can I force archiving to happen before
2 weeks when I will have forgotten what I did.
Also, will the same old items be archived again?
Thanks for any help you can give,
Ken

yes and yes.

You can archive by going to file->archive and follow the instructions on
your screen.
You can shrink the existing folders by choosing "compact". Can't remember
where the button is off the top of my head, but feel free to click F1 and
look for "compact pst" or "compact ost".

Is compacting a folder what I need to do in order to have the items that
have been copied to an archive folder deleted from the folder? I thought
that was supposed to happen automatically and that I didn't have something
checked that needed to be checked.

If you copied them, then they're still in the original folder and compacting
won't remove them. If you moved them, then they're gone, but the space they
occupied is still in the folder file. Compacting it will remove that space.
I thought that was supposed to happen automatically and that I didn't
have something checked that needed to be checked.

It does happen automatically, under specific conditions.
