Can anyone help me? I have Windows XP Professional and Office 2003
Professional. I was on a server; I asked to be removed from the server. Once
that was done, I could no longer open the computer, because it did not
recognize my password. Then, the individual found a set of instructions that
opened Windows by bypassing the password. I went in and renamed myself as
GY----, Administrator - which is what it was previously. However, once I got
into the
computer all of my files, settings, etc. were no longer on the computer.
That's when I purchased "Recover My Files" software and retrieved the files.
Then, I tried re-installing Office 2003 Professional. I know, I am not very
computer saavy and there may have been a better way but these are the steps
that I took.
Then I saw there were 2 users in Explorer, when there had previously been
only one, I tried to manually remove the 2nd one and that brings me to the
questions I have posed on this forum. I probably deleted something that I
should not have. When I try to open Outlook, the error message reads:
"Unable to open your default email folder. File access is denied. You do not
have permission required to access the file C:\Documents and
Settings\GY-----.R--Y----\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst."
I still would like to only have 1 user and be able to open and use Outlook
as it is preferable to using Webmail.
When I open Word, the Windows installer comes up, gives an error message
(Microsoft Office Word 11.0 "An error occurred and this feature is no
longer functioning properly. Please run Setup and select "Repair ..." to
restore this application." [I've done this many times without change]) Though
there is this error message, Word eventually opens.
