Iv got the dvd version, how do i install this OS,i know nothing bout linux,wen i boot from the cd,it boots up,when i click install,the next screen goes straight to an installation where it installs to the memory,after that it ends and asks me to restart my pc but nothing happens,it just goes straight to the boot up screen again where i started.
 
After you've booted from the CD once, you don't need to do it again. Make sure your PC boots from the hard drive after the restart. If it automatically tries to boot from the CD, take the CD out and put it back in once the PC has booted from the hard drive.

but my problem is when i boot up from the harddrive nothing happens,its like an os is mising

Iv tried pressing the installation button,and tried some other installations,but it bombs at the end,error msg,any reason for that

err, what bombs, what error message?

You are using a PC for this install? if so, what?

You are very sparse with any information here.

This is the error msg im recieving "usr/bin/perl: error while loading shared libraries /lib/libm.sab: cannot read file data :input/output error exited abnormally :-(
any reason for this
 
When does this happen? ... how far into the install?

Again, what PC are you using?

Try another Distro like Ubuntu :thumb:

as soon as i press install,it loads into memory,when finishing loading it bombs out,using a p4 1.7ghz sdram 512mb,128mb gforce fx 5200

Ah, better, thank you.

It is a possibility you have some bad ram or a bad download ... something is defiantly bad.

I do not know why, but I keep trying Mandriva ... and I keep wiping it. ;)

Try Ubuntu ... it is a "live CD" that you can use to install ... by using it that way you will get to see if it will play nice with your hardware ... it is by far the easiest Linux to use. I know, I have it on one of my PCs.

You have a good PC for Linux. :thumb:
