managing newsgroup newsletters

need some ideas please,

we have many engineers at work whom subscribe to their fav newsgroups. we
would like to share these amongst other engineers at work. we're thinking of
creating pertinent public folders and have each user create a rule to have
the particular newsletter moved to the appropriate public folder. we would
also like to be able to have these automatically moved to a server as a file,
stored in a database for further cataloging, archiving and searching.

anyone setup something like this? what popular third party products exist
that could help us manage something like this? i went to "slipstick" but i'm
not even sure where to begin there. we could be doing this all wrong too so
any suggestions and ideas are most welcome. thanks.

Since it sounds like you have Exchange, you don't really need anything fancy
or extra...nor do you need to rely on people moving things in/out.

Why not set up mail-enabled public folders for each newsletter and subscribe
to the lists/newsletters using the appropriate SMTP addresses? That way,
they're delivered to a central location and never have to be moved - you can
control permissions to the PF as you see fit. Make sure to grant "anonymous"
"contributor" permissions to the public folders, so they can receive mail
from the Internet in the first place.
 
thanks for the reply. yes, we use Exchange 5.5. i thought about doing it your
way, guess i began to "over-think" a solution. typical. :)

No prob - hope it helps. That's how I'd do it. I like simple solutions!
