Is there a way to make shortcut icons on the Links bar in IE6 (or any
shortcut on the Favorites menus) open the target webpage in a new
window?

You can open in a new window when you click on a link in a web page:
you right-click and choose "Open in new window." But is there a way to
tweak a shortcut to make it do the same thing?

Thanks,
Larry

Create a new shortcut and use the following
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Iexplore.exe -new <URL Here>"
This assumes that the path to IExplore is the same on your system. If not just
adjust the path.

George,

Thanks. That is the address of IExplore.exe on my computer, but I can't
get a new shortcut to take the address. It keeps saying "The file
[address] cannot be found."

Could you do me a favor create a working example of such a shortcut and
show me the address?

Thanks much,

Larry

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -new http://www.google.com

Thanks, Bill that works. That's what I thought I was doing before.
There must have been some subtle difference I didn't see.

Misplaced quotes mabey?

Try this slightly different method. It's been a more reliable method for me.

Find "IExplore.exe"
Right-click and drag IExplore.exe to the desktop and choose "Create
shortcut." Right-click that shortcut> Properties> Target, modify the Target
to include the URL.
Example:
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE"
becomes
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" www.yahoo.com
Note a space between " and w

You can then move that shortcut to any Favorites folder using Windows
Explorer.

Thanks. I tried that too. It seems to load IE faster. But that's just
based on a couple of tests. We'll see. :-)

Thanks all.
