Hi all

I'm an administrator running XP Home and would like to
make some folders only viewable by me. I go into My
Computer and highlight the folder and click the 'Share
this Folder' option on the left-hand side. However, when
I try to tick the 'Make this Folder Private', the option
is greyed out. Can anyone please shed some light on this
annoying problem. Thank you all.

Steven

If you want a shared folder just for you, set the
permissions on the share (under the share tab is the
permissions button). If you want a local just for you,
its under the security tab. I think you can do both to the
same folder.

I tried what is described bellow, but couldn't make it work. I am in the same situation: administrator rights, Windows XP Home
Wher exactly is the 'permission button'? When using right mous click on a folder and choosing Properties, then Sharing I only can do Local Sharing and Network Sharing. Local Sharing - that is what I want to do - only has got the grey 'Make this folder privat'-statement. It is not possible to change that

:O)
