I notice when I open certain templates, that there are
cells that are hidden (no lines) and not selectable.
For instance, the payroll template.

How do I do this?

Thanks.

Benjam -

This is called 'protecting' the cell. If you create a
template and want to protect some of the cells (like Name
in A1, for instance), you need to do the following:

Go to View, Toolbars, and select Chart. Develop your
form - it's best to have Name in one cell, and use the
next cell for the data entry of the name. When you are
done with the chart, tab through each cell. Those
requiring data entry (i.e. your name)need to be
unprotected (click on the little padlock icon in the Chart
toolbar). Then go to Tools, Protect Sheet, and put in a
password - while you are still developing the form you
might want to leave the password blank.

Hope this helps,

Carole

I couldn't find the padlock or any of the other buttons
in the chart toolbar, I found them in the Protection
toolbar.

I'm only mentioning it for other people who may be
reading this.

And yes, that is exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you.
