For those brave hearts out there:

"FlyakiteOSX is a transformation pack. It will transform the look of an
ordinary Windows XP+ system to resemble the look of Mac OS X. The
installer simply automates the process of replacing critical system
files, setting registry tweaks, and installing extras such as cursors,
sounds, visual styles, etc. FlyakiteOSX DOES NOT contain any spyware or
ad-ware of any kind. All files needed for FlyakiteOSX are stored in the
Windows directory in a folder named 'FlyakiteOSX' that is hidden by
default. All registry values for FlyakiteOSX are written to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\FlyakiteOSX."

I don't reply to trolls like Andy Mabbett or Doc (who uses sock puppets)
for instance. No adware, cdware, commercial software, crippleware,
demoware, nagware, PROmotionware, shareware, spyware, time-limited
software, trialware, viruses or warez for me, please.

Wow;

That's *gorgeous!* (http://osx.portraitofakite.com/ for those who
missed it before.) This has got to be the best reason I've seen for
moving from win2k to xp. Still not a good enough reason mind you
but...

Xp is left, 2000 is right.

MacOS on a XP, how's that :)

Unfortunately, you're probably correct in that. 80)>

Don't think so, it's just a kind of a skin for Windows from what I've read.

I don't think that's likely. It's not the first replacement shell to make
an attempt at replicating the Mac and LiteStep has innumerable themes that
try for that effect, too.

First impressions: A 30 Mb zip just to install a relacement shell? That's
a lot. It uses StarDock and ObjectDock which probably accounts for a lot
of that. It's stable, not memory-hungry and it's pretty. Except for the
docks, which are not to everyone's taste, it doesn't really seem to offer
much in the way of productivity enhancements.

I think this is just about bling! but I'll give it a try for a few days.
Given that it's quite invasive, it would be nice if the uninstaller works.

Ain't *that* the truth! Please let us know. Obtw, it requires .NET.

You may want to check out http://www.emulators.com/softmac.htm

"SoftMac XP Classic Edition, or simply SoftMac Classic, is the free
Macintosh emulator for Windows, featuring 68000, 68030, and 68040
emulation in a single emulator and support for emulating Mac Classic,
Mac II, and Mac Quadra computers. It supports all versions of Mac OS
from the original 1.1g through System 6, System 7, Mac OS 7.5 and 7.6,
and Mac OS 8.0 and 8.1. For use with Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows
2000, Windows NT 4, Windows Me, and of course, Windows XP."
"The PowerPC processor is not emulated at this time by current releases
of SoftMac, so Mac OS 8.5, 8.6, 9.0 and X are not supported since those
versions of Mac OS require the PowerPC processor. PowerPC native
applications are also not supported at this time."
"A valid Macintosh ROM BIOS (which all Macintosh computers use to start
booting) and a valid Mac OS startup disk are required"

Yes, but you missed the point.

The PC can play games/apps from the same Time, when the Apple GS were
out. On the other hand, I can start the compareable XP too.

Just talked about the degrading-factor.

I was going to try this for a few days but it doesn't take that long to
assess its capabilities. Unlike, say, LiteStep, it doesn't do anything
better than the standard Windows interface does. It's better to look at,
by several degrees of magnitude. If you like the look of the Mac and want
to try something different, it's harmless and pretty. It uninstalled
impeccably. The only minor niggle is that the top bar sometimes covered
the control buttons of programs. Otherwise it's well worked out.

My final verdict: competently-constructed eyecandy, nothing more.

Holy crap! I didn't notice that. Thanks for pointing that out, Craig.
