make the shell auto restart

where is the setting that makes a shell automatically restart after being
shut down?

LOL. I have, just this minute, finished modifying my shell so it hangs around until
XPe shutdown. Now I'll have to go back to the previous version.

Maybe I should start asking (or searching) for more stupid questions. I just
assumed that functionality couldn't be chanced since that is the behaviour
with XPPro and Explorer shell.

So are you saying it works or it doesn't?

I would like my shell to act like the explorer shell. If it's closed it
will restart, but of course I don't want this to take place during a Windows
Shutdown.

If I read correctly, The link provided states changing the settings makes
the shell restart, even on a normal shutdown?

No. These are unrelated things.

Auto restart will always take place when you close your shell.
Shutdown is handled differently. Also shutdown is possible even without closing your shell application.

As Slobodan already replied you, the shutdown goes through a different route and you may not really need to bother about it.

Autostart is for Winlogon to handle when you shell app is closed by end user (or some other way) and needs to be re-launched
automatically.
