Major Music File Mystery

Recently I have discovered that i am missing around 8 gb of music files that
were stored on my computer.. so i am extremely confused.. has this happened
to someone else and has it been resolved? I have done everything in my
limited power to do (which was only search the computer for all and then
specific missing files, check the recycle bin. ) another development is that
my admin account on my computer is unable to access a 'my documents' folder
in my C drive to see if they are in there, and i am at a loss. Please let me
know if you can help with this truly frustrating situation.

Hard to say, really. What antivirus software do you have? What antispyware
software?
You ought to pick up a cheap 'n cheerful external HD for backups of all your
data.

With regard to the "my documents" folder you can't access - take ownership
of it, thusly

and see what you can find.
 
Yes...hindsight is 20/20 ideally external HD would have been the best thing.
in answer to your question about antivirus, i am not really sure, one of my
friends installed Etrust on my system a while ago.. but i have no idea how
that works...:S
As for taking ownership of that folder it says its empty...but i will do it
anyways.. thanks!

That is so vague it is like the proverbial ring of rumour.....

Maybe your antivirus or spyware programs detected something and isolated
them. Maybe the files were damaged and a disk checking utility removed them.
Maybe ...... lots of possibilities but they are guesses as there isn't
much to go on.

Do you have up to date virus and spyware protection? Have you updated and
ran them recently? Most create logs of files they remove- have a look....
