Lost all inbox mail when I had an outlook express error.
The outlook express created a new inbox in the identies folder called
inbox(1) and assumed I am a new user.
The original inbox is still in the identies folder but not accessable.
When I try to delete the inbox(1) so that it will just read the original
inbox it just creates a new inbox(1) and asumes once again I am a new user.
Rebooting does not help and backup does not solve this issue.
I need access to my e-mail that was stored there especially the new mail
that was downloaded not more than a few minutes before the original error
causing the crash. I know Microsoft is big with outlook ver 6. but I have had
nothing but trouble since I upgraded to it. The reason I upgraded was to stop
the Internet expolorer dissociation problem and crashing that honestly is
worse now than when I was using ver 5.0 with patches.

I need major help! Microsoft tech support was all for helping until they
were told what the problem was then suddenly says I must use a telephone pay
service even though I have a tech support contract help. They now say because
the platform is win98SE they will not support even though they were happy to
take my money for the contract. Who wants to pay $30 an hour to solve an
issue that I could more or less back up files an totally scrap the platform
and reinstall back to the original version of Win98SE which came with ver 5.0
of Explorer and outlook ver 5.5?

please e-mail to (e-mail address removed)
I need a solution. Between crashes of XP and my Wndows 98se systems I have
about had it with microsoft and thinking to switching to Apple. I am so tired
of crashes when doing routine business and no proper support from a company
that says it backs its products! What a crock!

Hi, Paul -

This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a quite different
program, despite its similar name..

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
Outlook Express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac for OE for Macintosh

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

If you're accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services Community Newsgroups web interface, click
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?icp=InternetExplorer
to get to the Internet Explorer groups, then click the plus sign next to
your version of IE to see the link to the Outlook Express group for that
version number.

A good website for information on OE is:
http://www.tomsterdam.com/

Besides that - I do strongly suggest you bite the bullet and go with IE6SP1
and hence OE6. 5.0 is old and was buggier. I've used IE6 SP1 on all my, and
my clients', workstations for quite some time with not a single problem.

Sorry, no email replies. Note - posting your valid e-mail address in a
newsgroup post, or in your news account settings, is a surefire way to get
spam and SWEN and other viruses sent to you....see
http://www.mailmsg.com/SPAM_munging.htm for help in the future, but note
that now that your address is out there, there's not much you can do other
than changing your address.
