Can anyone help with this please?

I've had a look at the FAQs on Mailwasher's web site and downloaded the spam
list from Gaznet as suggested. I've then added this to my blacklist.
Unfortunately though, it lists domains and not domains with a wildcard
expression. E.g. yahoo.com rather than *@yahoo.com.

Therefore Mailwasher doesn't really take any notice of it. Is there a quick
way to add the *@ in front of all the domains or am I just doing something
silly when importing the list?

Thanks

Janice

copy and paste...... email me I'll send you mine.
(e-mail address removed) ( remove 123 )

Do you mean copy and paste *@ onto each entry? With over 300 pages I'm
looking for a faster way. If you mean the whole list from Gaznet, I did this
but Mailwasher doesn't do anything with only the domain - or at least it
doesn't appear to.

Someone else has passed me on the full list amended to include the *@.
Thanks for your offer of the list though.

On the Blacklist Tab cilck the Add button. Now you can add adresses with the
wildcard expressions and run a test as well.

Yes I know this but that's one address at a time. The list from Gaznet
contains hundreds. I wanted to know how to adapt them.

Thanks

Hi Janice,

I have the same problem you are having with adding
@infront of the domain list downloaded fron Gaznet. I
would be most grateful if you have the ammended list to
email it to me at (e-mail address removed).

Many thanks in advance.

Martin

I looked at that list. it's a large list that will just
slow mailwasher down. you can go through it and take like
100 names and wildcard them ( *@sex*.com and *@sex*.net )
that takes 200 domains off the list. Look for key words,
like bulk, girls, teens, mail, list, etc and make the
wildcard expression. I have found that using these

inputs.orbz.org
blacklist.spambag.org
outputs.orbz.org
balckholes.intersil.net
blackholes.wirehub.net
ztl.dorkslayer.com
blackholes.mail-abuse.org

on the DNS list does better than a big list, they have it
on their server.

By just adding these you'll cut down a bunch. Get rid of
all that starts with a number in the addy. copy and paste
them to your list.

0*@*.* 37925
1*@*.* 37919
2*@*.* 37923
3*@*.* 37925
4*@*.* 37917
5*@*.* 37923
6*@*.* 37925
7*@*.* 37918
8*@*.* 37899
9*@*.* 37916

Here is another way to help. block the whole extention.
Like ( *@*.af ) I don't want mail from there!!!!!! I don't
know anyone from Afganistan....lol. I receive lot's from
contries that the .Com and .net will not cover, you have
to block the origin and that list does not.

Hi Martin,

List e-mailed to you. However adding your e-mail address openly on news
servers like this will lead to even more spam mail.

Janice

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll keep these in mind.

The DNS list is good but unfortunately only those already on the blacklist
will be deleted automatically.

Janice

True, but as you see I have a coordinated attract on them.
The wildcards are the answer, not that big list, been
there done that, they change the domain name too fast and
you end up with a big list of dead names. The same id true
with blacklists on popup killers.

Mailwasher didn't seem to like the number list. It says wildcard expression
not well formed.

Janice

I copied it off my list, I have no idea, you must have
the "Period" in it and the numbers are not needed. They
are used by the mailwasher data base.

Some third party text editors will allow search and replace of the invisible line return character that marks the end of the line, which lets you easily make the adjustments that you want. It's easy, just place your cursor at the end of the first line, use your mouse to highlight down to the beginning of the next line, copy and paste that into the find and replace box, but in the replace box add *@. after the line return symbol, then use the Replace All button. You will still have to edit the first line (and maybe the last line) manually, but you are doing all but those in just a second or so.I like EditPad Lite which is free for non-commercial use, http://www.just-great-software.com/. Lots of other nice extras with EditPad -- I use it every day.

Thanks Bill for the heads up, I'll give that a try.
