hi all,

i had a user that called in today reporting that his
mailbox had exceeded the limit set by the company. he was
able to receive emails still but could not send any new
ones. he said he had deleted mail out of all of his folders
including his deleted items etc. etc. i directed him to
right click on his outlook today folder and open the folder
size button. he reported that his mailbox reflected the
deletion of the items yet the problem persisted?? any ideas??

thanks in advance

In the user's Accounts settings, the user may have checked the option to
leave copies of messages on the server. You may have to change this setting
to clean them off the server. On the menu, go to Tools>Accounts, select the
account, click Properties. On the Advanced Tab, Delivery section, either
uncheck the "Leave a copy of messages on server" or , my recommendation,
change the "Remove from server after ___ days" to one or two days. The last
option will allow backup copies if the desktop crashes. Note that the
message the user is getting is referring to how much space the mailbox is
taking up on the company server, NOT on their desktop.
