mail stuck in Outbox - outlook 2002

I got the error message "An unknown error occurred, error code:
0x9004010f" trying to setup Outlook Exchange Server for my profile in
Windows XP Pro only after I had uninstalled Office 2003 and installed
2002. Other people on the same network are able to connect to the
Exchange Server without a problem.

I uninstalled Office 2002, Renamed the Office folder, and did a clean
installation to a new folder, and still got the same error. I also
tried removing the old exchange server from Start\Settings\Control
Panel\Mail and tried setting up the account again and still received
the same error. Is it possible that a DLL was damaged with my
uninstallation of Office 2003, or that a DLL that was not compatible
with 2002 had been added?

I haven't tried a new profile yet although I bet a new profile would
work. If anyone finds anything out, please post it. Doing a search on
Google for "0x9004010f" only brings up this forum so I doubt much is
out there on this issue.

Thanks! :)

Here is my solution to the error message "An unknown error occurred,
error code: 0x9004010f" that appears if:
1) upgraded from office 2002 to office 2003
2)uninstalled ofice 2003 and installed office 2002 na drun it

Also When I tried to upgrade from 2002 to 2003 , I got error message (I
can't remember the exact syntax) : Outlook cannottonnect using EPC
connection to Exchange unavailable

* Upgrading the windows will not fix the problem
* the problem comes from the exchange client engine itself , propable
DLL of registry entry
*I solved the problem by Installing Exchange client ver. 5.0 , I came
with Exchange Server ver 5.0 CD
*I chose to remove existing components
*Then I ran this setup again --> installed exchange --> worked
*after that I ran office 2002 setup and chose to reinstall office
*everything was OK after that
Note: If you don't have this SW try to install old version of office
(like office 97 not more)
Regards,

I see the solution for this situation when running Exchange 5.0 but I am
running 2000 and can't figure out where to find the client to uninstall
and reinstall.

Can anyone give some good steps to figuring this out when using an
Exchange 2000 server? We installed Office 2003, hated it, uninstalled,
installed Office XP and now it does not work. Getting the 0x9004010f
error when trying to add an email account.

HELP!?!?!?

Hey Man , No Problems !!!!!!!!
I have Exchange 2000
I am talking about the client (MAPI client)

Ok, sorry for the dumb question but....where do I find that to uninstall
it/reinstall it? I looked on my Exchange 2000 CD and could not find any
reference to a client to reinstall.

Exchange (MAPI) client no longer shipped with Exchange CD's
It is a bundled component with office starting 97
Last CD contained this software was Exchange server 5.0
((I can put it for download for you for free from my site))
Because I don't know other way to deliver 10.5 MB
** I wish I can post it to this site

We had the same problem. It's an easy solution. Go to Contro
Panel..Mail. Select Profiles and delete the "Outlook" profile. Create
new profile named "Outlook". Then go ahead and create your accounts.

When Outlook is installed, it creates a mail profile for itself. Th
2003 version profile is not compatible with the 2000/2002/XP version
Deleting then recreating it fixes the problem.

Hope this helps,

Ryose

I had the same problem of a message stuck in the Outbox using Outloo
2003. I right-clicked on the message in the Outbox, selecte
'Options', set the message to expire in the past, and then it eithe
went away after refreshing the Outbox, or I was able to delete i
(can't remember). Obviously, the message is lost for good, bu
composing a new one was less hassle than the other issues. The issu
was an attachment larger than my mail server allowed. Good luck
