HI all

I have been trying to merge from excel to word - However it keeps switching
from UK to USA format. I have changed the settings in Control panel to UK (in
fact they were already set). Is there a setting in word or excel which I need
to alter and if so where. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Rexmann

PS this maybe an excel question so apologies but I thought it a bit greedy
to post in both.

Hi all

Found the answer myself but thought I would let any interested parties know -

Do the following in word:

Tools - options – general – confirm conversion at Open

alternatively in excel do to format cells - number - date and switch from UK
to USA. Then it converts to UK when merging.

hope this is helpful someone

Kind regards

Rexmann

What keeps switching? I presume you are referring to a date format?

What version of Office are you using? I suspect Office XP or Office
2003.

If all of the above applies then you need to change the method Word is
using to connect to the Excel workbook:

- In Word go to Tools/Options/General
- Turn on "Confirm conversions at open"
- Select your Excel workbook as your data source again
- When prompted select the DDE method to connect to your data source.
