Mail Merge Mass Mailing

I need to send a mass mailing to around 2-3000 individuals. I need it to be
individualised to show different information for each individual. That's fine
to do as I can do that easily with an excel spreadsheet.
However I'm not sure Mail Merge will be able to cope sufficiently with the
volume. Is there any way to speed up the process or any additional software
that would help ?

Hello Stephen,

You probably should have posted this in a Word newsgroup, but at long as
you're here...

Why would you think that the Mail Merge feature in Word could not handle
3000 individual names/information?

I've used Word for Mail Merges with far more than that. I recommend that you
do not merge/print directly, but rather, merge to a new Word document. After
you've confirmed that everything looks okay, then print.

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the response, I should have been a little clearer. I'm using the
mail merge to send out emails.

I havn't tried before to send such a large group. But when sending out a
hundred or so it can take quite a few minutes to process.

With what email program?

Hi Frank,

It's Outlook 2003 that we use. Do you think it would be able to handle the
volume at a reasonable speed ?

I've been looking into an add in program called GoMail which maybe able to
speed things up. The only downside is that i need some server settings
changed and in an Organistaion like mine causes some bureaucratic delays !

There are also Outlook newsgroups.

If you are in a commercial organisation shouldn't you be using commercial
support.
