mail merge headers

Why are we limited to a 22 inch page on headers for mail merge data. Going to Excel or Access still limits you when you convert. Keeping data in Word would bring in more users and stop the need for use of importing other programs and be a relief to all organizations that presently use Word.
 
Word's page size is limited to 22" in both height and width. Word is
intended to create printable documents. Very few desktop printers will print
to paper larger than that. When you need a spreadsheet, Excel is the
application to use. Horses for courses.
