Mail Merge and Spell Check

I have set up a mail merge and I have merged data from an Excel spreadsheet.
I see typos in the merged document and when I run spell check, it states the
spelling and grammar check is complete. It does not find the typos. How do
I get spell check to find the typos after the merge is completed?
