How do you create a macro containing a variable in Word?
I am familiar with doing this in WordPerfect, but now I
am switching to Word. For example, if I wanted a macro
that said, "Thank you for your (insert either "letter"
or "fax") dated (insert date), to our firm." How would
you create such a macro?

There are many ways depending on where the variable is coming from. You'll
need to explain a little more what you're trying to do. How does the macro
know whether you are writing a fax or a letter?
