Macros quit working

I have about a dozen macros I have used for years with
Word, having them assigned to toolbar buttons. A month
ago I successfully upgraded to Offic 2003. All of my
macros work fine until yesterday. For reasons unknown to
me they will not now work. I get an error message which
reads, "The macro cannot be found or has been disabled
because of your Macro security settings."
I changed the security settings in Word to the minimum
security and they still do not work.
Any ideas out there?
Thanks,
Mike

If the macros were saved in Normal.dot, is there a chance that Normal.dot
has been overwritten?

Thanks Suzanne,
I will restore the old normal.dot file and see what
happens. BTW, when I try to create a new macro and type
the name of the new macro then click on toolbar or
keyboard, I get an error message which reads, "The macro
could not be created." Using my Office 2003 disk, I just
had a repair done on the office installation but that did
not stop the error message. What's going on in this case?
Thanks,
Mike B.
