Macros in Word 07 - global usage in business

I have created some macros in Word 2007 that I need to have used globally in
our computer system. How do I get them to be visible to everyone who needs
them?

You can place the macros in a *.dotm file that you then copy into each
user's Startup folder.

I was just thinking .dotm as opposed to .dotx. But I suppose that's
automatic if it contains macros.

Actually, it is possible to *create* macros in *.dotx or *.docx files. When
saving, Word displays a warning stating that the macro cannot be saved.

Well, you are advised to "choose a macro-enabled file type in the File Type
drop-down."

Big help if the user doesn't know what that means, as I'd be willing to bet
most users don't, but perhaps those with enough savvy to be dealing with
macros do.

I suspect it will be less helpful for those who only makes use of the macro
recorder (as opposed to creating macros explicitly). But, on the other hand,
I haven't seen any "my macros disappeared on save" posts in the newsgroups;
after all, Word 2007 and the new file formats have been around for a while
now...

Isn't the macro recorder a bit harder to access in Word 2007? Don't know, as
I never use the recorder and rarely use Word 2007.

Not really harder. Instead of the "REC" on the status bar, there's a rather
inscrutable icon with the tooltip "No macros are currently recording. Click to
begin recording a new macro." But IIRC the icon isn't displayed by default; and
we know that lots of users have no idea they can right-click the status bar and
choose what they want to see there.
