macros -enabled Workbook is getting slower and slower!!

After rolling a spreadsheet every month by saving a copy of the old one and
deleting the old information the macro is getting slower and slower? What
could be causing this?
 
Couple of questions -

1) Are you using Save, SaveAs, or a file-copy to create the new workbook?
(save and "save as" are not the same in this context).
2) What is the size of the workbook compared to say 6 months ago?
