How do I get Flashplayer and/or shockwave to install and funcition on
my pc?

First - choose a newsgroup and post there. Cross-posting (especially for a
question this obvious OR this obscure - we'll find out when you give more
feedback I suppose) is not appreciated everywhere.

Secondly - assuming you have no troubles using the internet and you are an
admin on your computer - go here - using Internet Explorer or the browser of
your choice:

http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/alternates/

Click on the proper iteration you need and install it.

I admit my breach of etiquitte.
I have been to Macromedia and tried all they suggest. My visit to the link
you referred me to produced the successful start of an install that fizzled
to nothing -- no Security Dialog, nothing.

Give the "StandAlone" installer for shockwave a shot:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/director/ts/documents/old_standalone_installer.htm

Download it, unzip it, install it.
(You may want to consider the "uninstaller" as well, in case that is why you
cannot install.)

Other Places to get the stand-alone installers that I know of:
(Internet Explorer ONLY)
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/...glish/win95nt/7.0.19.0/flashplayer7_winax.exe
http://www.macromedia.com/support/d...ne_installer/win/Shockwave_Installer_Full.zip

I found the solution. Under Internet options, Advanced, I deselected the
Java(Sun). Flashplayer apps started working immediately.
