On my current version of excel (2002) I am not able to
select relative or absolute when recording a macro. I
have looked through the options however do not see where
I can turnthis on. Can anyone suggest where this option
is turned off or is it an installation function?

Hi Phil

do you see the stop recording toolbar when you go to record a macro - if
not, after pressing OK to start to record the macro choose view / toolbars /
stop recording and then the toolbar will appear with the relative / absolute
button on it.

And if you see the Stop Recording Toolbar but no Relative Reference button,
you can "reset" the Toolbar under Tools>Customize>Toolbars. You may have
dragged the button off.

The usual cause of losing the entire Stop Recording Toolbar is turning it off
when recording by using the "X" to close. Always hit the "stop recording"
button.
