Just set up a small peer-to-peer network for a client using a Linksys router/switch/AP to connect to a new Windows XP Professional machine (clone), an upgraded desktop (XP Home to XP Pro) and a Macintosh running QS 10.2. The two PCs can see each other's shares just fine. Using TCP/IP, the Mac can see the client's PC workgroup and the two machines in it. It can see a shared folder and its contents on the old desktop but it cannot see the shares on the new PC. I've gone around quite a bit on this, and the only thing I can think of is that this has to do with permissions
The PC with the shares that cannot be seen has all users and their passwords set, including the Mac user's name. Ironically, the desktop that CAN be seen on the Mac does NOT have this user's name set-up on the machine. The first time I went to connect to the workgroup and the machine I'd like to show up, the Mac gave me a log-in dialog box, with the username, a workgroup and a password field needing to be completed. I used the password set up on the PC, and the Mac showed me a blank window after I logged in
Any thoughts
