I am about to purchase myself an Apple Airport Extreme Base. (I would
purchase the smaller. newer version, but this does not support PC also)

When I have it wirelessly sending recieveing the net from my apple laptop,
how do I physically connect my Windows XP home pc to it?

Do I have to install any software, or should it just work?

Thank you for your time

Daniel

Hey Daniel....First of All, the Airport Express (small one that plugs into
the wall [looks like a white AC adapter]) does work with Windows. And second
of all, in order to access any of the Apple Aiport Products, you need to go
to www.apple.com/airport; and then click on the Aiport Updater (not firmware
updater) and get the Windows Software (or use the CD that comes with the
unit). Then when you open the program your router should be listed and you
can do a whole gamut of things to it. But you need the program to access it
and cannot just go via IP in a browser. It's part of Apple's netwroking
products including Bonjour, etc designed to make networking ez. It will work
under Windows 2000/XP, Mac OS X, and Linux/Unix/FreeBSD under Wine.

I have a desktop PC and bought a G4 powerbook and the Airport Extreme Base
station to connect wireless to my cable modem.
I have the desktop PC plugged directly into the airport base along with
cable modem. Both directly plugged into Airport.
They both work fine this way. The powerbook goes wireless and works great.

I control base station from my Powerbook but I could use PC software for the
airport I suppose....just haven't tried it yet.
