Am I the only one having trouble with this new foramt? It seems that everytime I close the browser for this forum, I have to enter all the 'profile' data again in order to post, and I get an error message on the reply page telling me that my .Net session has timed out and I'll have to sign in with the communities..or some such rot.
I don't sign out of the .netPassport, as the button clearly says 'sign out' which means I am signed in, but I have to sign out, then sign back in in order to be remembered. Then, when I am signed in, the comments on the right side of the page are, you have chanmged you display name...etc, which I have not.
Yikes, did the wheel really need to be re-invented???

Ivee,

You are not alone! I get the same too. Looks like we only have a limited amount of time before we're told we haven't filled out the thingy, have to sign out-sign in- enter passwords etc. This is progress?? If it ain't broke, don't fix it I say.
What a pain!!
G'Luck.

The best way to view these Newsgroups is via Outlook Express. Check you OE
Help Menu for some information plus click this link for an excellent article
on how to setup Outlook Express to use for access to these Newsgroups.

thnaks, I'll give it a whirl..

I have question about this.. I did as you recommended, but what I am having a hard time figuring out is WHICH newsgroup to subscribe to...there are about 30 that are available, each one is nearly identical. For example, there are about three or four different catagories, and in each catagory, there are at least 10 with identical names. And when I check the box that shows descriptions, I'm not sure what I should type in...I just want this newsgroup.
Then, another question. Is there a way to search for specific Q&A's, like, when I want to look for my questions and answers?

I see you're still using CDO.

This one is >> microsoft.public.windowsxp.newusers

Two that would probably interest you:

microsoft.public.windowsxp.basic

microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

General gets a lot of traffic.

Others that I subscribe to:

microsoft.public.windowsxp.configuration_manage

microsoft.public.windowsxp.customize

microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware

microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support

microsoft.public.windowsxp.perform_maintain

microsoft.public.windowsxp.security_admin

microsoft.public.windowsxp.setup_deployment

In OE you go View menu - Current View - Show Replies To My Messages

What is your message is based on the email address you use in both the Post and OE, so to see posts you've made through the idiot's interface would require you to tell OE to use that same email address.

But then someone like you probably doesn't understand this. Are you going to criticise the case of my first sentence? Perhaps you should get your husband to look after your computer.

My goodness, someone is a bit overly sensitive, and maybe needs to take a nap, as any cranky child should do. As far as your answer to my question, I understand it perfectly, and all nastiness aside, thanks for your help. But you missed out on some sweet revenge..that last post of mine was filled with spelling errors. And, as for my husband, and you assume correctly that I have one, he thinks the computer is the devils workshop. lol
