tying to run recovery console (Windows has corrupted
itself) but get the error message: INF file txtsetup.sif
is corrupt or missing.

Does anybody know a workaround? It might be something to
do with NTFS permissions, based on another KB article, but
of course the machine is dead so I can't do anything about
that.

Nor can I ask a MS 'professional' because I can't find a
product i/d to put on my mail because the machine is
dead. Am going mad, but not as mad as the lunatics at MS!

If you can boot with the XP CD, start over from scratch and delete all
partitions, create and format new ones, then re-install XP

The following article has some information on your error message that
