Hi,
I am having a problem with Window XP professional. I believe i am infected
with a version of the sasser worm. I was running windows Xp professional and
was installing the service pack 2 update and my computer was shut down before
it was completed. This resulted in the operating system being unable to start
when i re-booted my computer. I tried to restore the last good configuration,
as well as run it in safe mode, neither of which worked. I tried to run the
operating system from the CD and repair the operating system. It seemed to
work until about 13 minutes remaining in the installation and an error
appeared

"UnreGMP2.exe -Entry point not found - Entry point needs GetIUMS could not
be located in the dynamic link libarary MSDART.DLL"

I have found the two ways around this 1- hitting the OK button until it goes
away (takes a little while) and 2-"Shift+F10' then typing taskmgr.exe and
ending the process. The installation seems to work after that and finishes
and then restarts. Everything appears normal after rebooting until the blue
screen appears. Then an error message appears and dissappears very quickly. I
think it says "isass.exe- not enough memory. not enough vitual memory.." it
then shuts down and goes through this process over and over. I have files
that i need on the hard drive and don't want to lose them by completely
re-installing the operating system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same damn problem with an XP Home edition. I never had it until
after SP2, I'm not sure if it's the cause or not though. I finally got so
p/o'ed I put in another hardrive and installed win xp home sp1 onto and and
copied files over so I wouldn't loose data. Just thought I'd add this so
they would know you weren't the only one out there with this problem. I
guess it matters little to me anymore because I've got the problem fixed,
although not the proper way, but hey it works i guess.

good luck,

1st off all you wizzes, or those you think you are, out there don't tell me
Sasser or Blaster because I have checked for all known varients of each.
Also don't tell me I simply don't know what I'm doing and I shouldn't be
using a computer.

Now onto the problem. Computer acts as though it is infected with the
sasser virus/worm. However, it's not. Does this restart jazz after a clean
install of windows xp home edition sp1 on a reformatted hdd. A second hdd is
attatched that carries used to carry win xp he sp2 that crashed. It has been
scanned as well.

Any ideas genuises? Don't think I'm stupid because I can't spell, Einstien
couldn't either.

Thanks,
Deryk
