lsass.exe - system error

i am getting the following message whenever i start
windows xp pro:

lsass.exe - system error

an invalid parameter was passed to a service or function

i click ok and the system restarts...everytime. i have
tried everything that i can think of, including chkdsk
about 15 times. please help.

system:

msi neo2 ls
intel p4 2.6ghz 800 fsb ht
512mb ddr400
radeon 9600 pro
maxtor 120gb sata150 hdd

all drivers up to date and all windows updates installed.

Hi: Right click on "my computer" and select properties
and then advanced.Under startup and recovery click
settings, Under system failure uncheck automatically
restart.
Isass,exe serves an important funtion try to find out why
it is causing an error.Check your event viewer for some
details.
