lsass.exe read/write to HDD

I'm reposting this in this group as it appears NOT to be a security issue.

Is it normal for lsass.exe to constantly write to the hard HDD? If I bring
up task manager and look at processes with I/O read and write showing I see
an ever increasing number of hits on the HDD.

Can anyone else try this simple test on a clean system to see if they get
the same result????
