Dear Group,

For an (Psych) experiment I would like to lower the refresh on my
screen monitor to 20 Hz. I know this would look horrible.

Now I currently have a Video Card.
ATI 3D Rage Pro (atir3).
Manufacture: ATI Technologies
Chip type: Match 64: RagePro
DAC type: Internal
Memory 8Mb
Features: DirectDraw 1.00
Software version: 4.02

Is it possible to use this card or do I need another card at such low
refresh rates?

Any suggestions on the brand and type of card I should look at?

Also will I need a special monitor to run at such low refresh rates?

Or could I simulate via software a lower refresh rate?

What type of software should I look at?

Thanks

Stuart

I doubt you would be able to get such a display from hardware.

First off, this is an XP NG, your post is OT. IMO this is a really stupid
question. Why would someone want to do what you ask?

Stuart,

One of the best known programs for controlling refresh rate is Powerstrip
found on http://www.entechtaiwan.net/ps.htm

It is shareware. They may have a free trial version, I don't recall.

Disclaimer: this is not an endorsement of the above program. Use it at your
own risk.

Be careful and read the docs carefully (especially the key combination to
get back your "safe" screen mode. Because you have complete control over
your display settings, you can easily end up with an unviewable screen
image, so you'll need the safe mode hotkeys to get back your valid mode.

Note it may be tough to find a display adapter that outputs a 20 hz refresh
rate signal.
