Low on disk space?

During reinstallation of XP my drive was partitioned into:
1. Recovery (C:)4.38gb
2. Windows (H:) 275gb
As far as I know the recovery partition is only needed in the event of
another crash? Is this correct?
The problem I am getting though is quite simple - a balloon keeps popping up
saying I'm running out of space on C: Recovery. I can't see anything that is
safe to delete, so how can I stop this message from displaying?

Well first of all I need to ask how did your Recovery Partition get to the C
Drive and windows on H Drive? Appears your problem is that XP is trying to
reinstall on the C drive which is out of space as Recovery partitions are
minimal in size nneding only enough space for the recovery image.

Mesh talked me through the reinstall over the 'phone. It wasn't until after
it was finished that I noticed what the drive names were.
I have tried to change the names but understand you can't change the name of
the boot drive? Not without reinstalling Windows - and I don't really want to
go through that again!
If it is possible I would love to have Windows back on C: drive!
What exactly is the recovery drive anyway?

Hilarious!

A Three Stooges Skit could not be any better.

A recovery partition is where they have a factory image of your system.
Should the need to restore the computer to factory image arise it is
recovered from this partition. Which is what you're looking at. You need to
contact your manufacturer or tech support or even tha manual as to how to
recover and restore your system to the original factory image.

Thanks for the info Allen, I have contacted Mesh about this now. They have
been very unhelpful so far so I was hoping to solve this problem without
them, but hey?
My PC has 'hung' several times since they reinstalled Windows. Do you think
this could be due to the incorrect naming of the recovery partition?

More that Windows resides on the H partition. You need to do what I
suggested otherwise you will be spending more time that you need to resolve
it. If you restore your image from the recovery partition it will like you
just pulled it out of the box.

Start fresh. Set your C: to be 275gig

For your partitions and your hanging, I can't help you but if you want that
space warning to go away, you can download TweakUI off of Microsoft's
website because I think it has an option to disable the low free space
warnings.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
Look for Tweak UI on the right pane.
When you install it, open up Tweak UI. On the left, click on Taskbar and
start menu. Then, uncheck Warn when low on disk space. Click OK.

Fantastic! Have downloaded TweakUI and it seems to have worked - nice one
thanks!
