Hi Mahmoud,

Yes, everything in the C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Local
Settings\Temp folder can be deleted. It is best done after a reboot.
Do the same for the C:\WINDOWS\Temp folder.

Bert thanks for help

I have the same question - however, I have a folder under the Temp folder -
Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5 which contains several folders (all
dated 9/25/2004 for some reason) and an index.dat file. Can I safely
delete these?

Terry

Hi Terry,

The best way to delete the Temporary Internet Files is to right click
on the IE icon on the desktop
and pick Properties - Delete Files, online and off line. All that
should be left in the TIF folder is cookie's.

While in Internet Properties click on Setting under the General Tab.
The "Amount of disk space to use" is normally set much to high. It can
be reduced. With a broadband connection it can be set around 20MB's.

I've done that before and just did it again. However, the system just can't
seem to get rid of the folders and files in :

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5

I have 4 folders in this folder plus an index file.

This usually indicates the index.dat files are damaged. The contents
of the Content.IE5 folder including the index.dat file will have to be
deleted from another account. If another administrator account is not
available boot into Safe Mode. Boot tapping the F8 key as the BIOS
information goes by. At the Windows Advanced Options menu select Safe
Mode. On the welcome screen select Administrator. This is the hidden
Administrator account. Using Windows Explorer navigate to the files in
question and delete them. Reboot into the previous account and see if
the file are gone.
