Low Disk Space Checks

Can someone provide me with information on how the Low Disk Space Checks
work?

I'm interesting in knowing:
How it works. Is it using WMI or something else?
How often does it check the disks.
Does it also check mapped drives?

Thanks Gerry. Already saw that article, but it doesn't really answer the
questions I'm looking for answers to.
